Here you can see the types of wind instruments used both in the Andes and in the Southeast.   You will hear the amazing range of notes they could play, from like a piccolo to a deep bass bassoon.  They also played several sizes of pan pipes, fashioned from cane or hollowed out wood.  These instruments sound more like organs.
